Update – July 1st

Spain is open to all visitors regardless of their country of origin, being only necessary to fill a Health Control Form. Passengers from EU and Schengen Areas are exempt from filling these forms. All public spaces, restaurants and shops are open and functioning on their regular schedules. Face masks are optional except on public transportation and health facilities.

Can I Travel to Spain?

Yes. Spain is open to all visitors regardless of their country of origin.

What do I need if visiting Spain?

Before entering Spain, all travelers over 12 years of age and coming from outside the EU or Schengen Area, must fill out a Health Control Form.

This form will require you to upload either a document proof of vaccination– vaccination completed 14 days prior to the arrival in Spain and no more than 270 days since the date of administration of your last dose - diagnostic test (either RT-PCR taken 72h prior or rapid antigen, approved by the European Union Health Committee taken 24h prior), or recovery (issued at least 11 days after the first positive NAAT or RAT, and up to a maximum of 180 days after the date of sampling) and will generate a Spain Travel Health QR Code that you must present at your arrival at the airport. This QR code will allow you to follow the blue path and fast track at the airport.

Passengers coming from the EU or Schengen Area countries are exempted from this.

What if I am travelling with children?

Minor children can enter Spain if they are traveling with their parents and must fill the standard Health Control Form. All children 12 years of age or older will need to meet the requirements as stated on “What do I need if visiting Spain?”.

What about cruise travel?

There is a different health form, specifically for international cruise travelers.

Can I cross the land border into Portugal?

Yes, the land borders between Spain and Portugal are open and circulation is permitted freely.

Can I cross the land border into France?

Can I travel to Morocco?

Passengers with an EU Digital COVID Certificate will obtain a FAST CONTROL QR code, which will speed up entry as they will not have to show a certificate when boarding or at the health control point on arrival.

What should I do if I have Covid Symptoms?

If during your stay in Spain you develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (fever, cough or difficulty in breathing) or other symptoms compatible with COVID-19 such as reduced sense of smell and taste, chills, sore throat, muscle aches, headache, general weakness, diarrhea or vomiting, you must commit to:

1) Self-isolating: Preferably in a room for individual use, which is well ventilated and with an individual bathroom. If this is not possible, the safety distance of 1.5 metres should be guaranteed and a surgical mask should be worn when in contact with other people living with the patient. Be very careful with hygiene.
2) Contact the competent health authorities of the Autonomous Communities by telephone.
3) For agressive shortness of breath or chest pain, as well as other health matters, call 112.

Where can I take a Covid PCR Test in Spain should I need it?

Unilabs has several laboratories in Madrid and Barcelona. You can check the available labs in Madrid and Barcelona here https://testcovid-unilabs.es/centros/ and use the landline to book your test at one of the facilities (+34 915 504 399). Even though it is the standard procedure to answer in Spanish, all clinics are available to answer in English and help you with your test.

Is there any travel insurance that covers expenses related to covid-19?

There is a specific travel insurance for travelers staying in the Andalusia region of Spain that covers medical, surgical and hospitalization costs, extended stay at a hotel due to quarantine, as well as transportation and repatriation expenses. You can find more information on it here: https://www.andalucia.org/en/travel-assistance-insurance
